I don't have the right to comment on Saimoe cuz I'm not the least bit interested in it, but Suiseiseki is by far my favourite doll.

On another note, I understand perfectly what you mean by these competitions need to be fun. I'm a casual anime watcher - well not that casual but not anywhere near hardcore - but i'm a pretty hard gamer. And when you play games when they get to the competitive level, the game is no longer about fun and everything just becomes as serious as life and death. Lets not even mention that fights can erupt when sore losers get pwned over and over again. Not to mention cheating and bad mouthing.

Moderation is by far the best medicine for such competition related topics.

>>> I really think we need English based, truely open to everyone in the world, character popularity tournament.

But what's the fun in that?

>> I’m not sure, so don’t cite this, but something like 25% of the votes in the final match were from outside of Japan.

It was more likely 30% as not all 'foreigners' got the 'foreign' IP related codes.

>>> The difference, as to Saimoe versus other polls, is to cater to 2ch-ers.
