Eventing 2016

This blog post keeps tracks of events I went to and plan to attend in 2016. You can see last year’s post here.

Eventer identity is one I wear slightly more proudly than the one that requires watching 10+ series per season, but maybe I shouldn’t be considering the sacrifice it takes. It is definitely fun, though, and you can meet a lot of people you wouldn’t ordinarily meet, and maybe even make more friends. Good times.

The real game changer for eventer tracking is the JP crowd-sourced events listing site eventernote. It’s like MAL for eventers, but more simple, more SNS-oriented (twitter is required) and just plain better. Mine here.

(2/11) TICA Festival: Wake Up Girls! Stage: Wake Up Sendai! Fureai Project in Taiwan @ Taipei Nangang Exhibition Hall -> Complete! Also attended a sign-kai at Taipei Animate HQ earlier in the day.

(2/14) Lawson Presents TrySail no Chokotto Voyage ~ Amaysail ~ @ NHK Hall -> Both afternoon and night sessions, complete!

(3/25-27) Anime Boston @ Hynes Convention Center -> Complete! Thanks nano.RIPE, ALIPRO, CR, etc etc

(4/8-10) Kawaii Kon @ Honololu Convention Center -> Complete! Missed out on day 3 beach party is all…LOL.

(7/1-4) Anime Expo @ Los Angeles Convention Center -> Complete! Possibly 2nd Best AX I’ve ever attended!

(8/5-7) Otakuthon @ Palais des congrès de Montréal -> Complete! Mmm good.

(8/12-14) Otakon @ Baltimore Convention Center -> Complete! So long Baltimore!

(8/26-28) Animelo Summer Live 2016: TOKI @ Saitama Super Arena -> Complete!

(8/27-28) C3 Chara Hobby Expo Tokyo @ Makuhari Messe -> Failed the seriken camp but still complete! OK, this time, see yall Million Stars in 2017!

(9/3-4) Perfume @ Hammerstein Ballroom NYC -> This was a ton of fun, love the production value and their musical style/art direction. Complete!

(12/2-3) Lisani 2016 Taiwan @ Taipei International Convention Center -> Complete! Xie xie da jia!

(12/3) Trysail Fan Meeting “TRYangle harmony” in Taiwan” @ Clapper Studio -> Complete! It was great!

Still in fetal position because I’m now paying for what is going to happen:

• Dec: Lisani TW – All paid and such.
• Jan: Weekender for Producer meeting, already all set. NEW: Maybe going to Taiyoucon for @3paypaypay
• Feb: Probably nothing…
• March: A week in Japan for ML4th. I won and didn’t win, but ended up buying all the tix. Flight is already set. Will probably go to Sphere (won tix) and maybe Angela (should know soon) the week before.
• April: 765Pro ML in TW, but probably Anime Boston the week before. No way I’ll fit Sakuracon budget-wise.

No omo, no. Well, I am paying for it…

I think the rest of the year is pretty chill for me after Taiwan. Will look forward to the WUGchans at AFA from across the world.
