Last year’s note here, my Eventernote here.

Below is a rough outline my travel plans to attend various otaku events. Some of these them are cons and anime events. Some are anisong artist live concerts. Some are cons with anisong artist concerts. Whatever. If you are going to one of these, feel free to say hello.

As per the last update, we waited and we saw. People died, the casualty piled up, human and economic. All I can say is I am thankful that nothing terrible happened to me (yet) and this is one way to cut down on eventing! What a time that we are living in!

The latest update basically poses no con will happen in the USA until late 2021, because now it’s not just vaccine and its related issues, but restoring consumer confidence and the time it takes to get events going again will be a while. For oversea travel, it’s about getting Japan to open its border again safely and having the US figure out its coronavirus issue. It’s pretty crazy because either the USA is a poser first-world country, or something has really gone wrong to get us in this terrible place.

The latest word is that Japan is looking at April for tourist visas again, which is probably the only way I’m going to see anything there. And logically they’ll roll it out based on % of tourists hit and how well each country is doing. China and SEA will for sure be top of that list.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of online events to take the place of offline events, at least supply-side economics says. Shiny Color’s big event at end of October seems pretty exciting to me.
